Virginia Stevenson Hope of Prattsville, Arkansas was born January 4, 1918 in Fordyce, Arkansas the daughter of the late George and Jeannette Smith Stevenson.
She died Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at Encore Healthcare and Rehab in Malvern at the age of 97.
She was preceded in death by her husband: L.C. "Sam" Hope, her daughters: Marjorie Knight and June Cochran, her sons-in-law: Allen Knight and Bob Caldwell, her brothers: Fred Stevenson, Elbert Stevenson, Kirby Stevenson, her sisters: Raye Carter, Norma Davis, Neva Garner and Reba Davis.
Virginia is survived by her daughters: Janette (Alvin) Hardin of Prattsville, Karen (Harold) Gray of Bigelow, Sharen Caldwell of Prattsville; grandchildren, Richard (Elizabeth) Knight of Hornbeck, LA, Larry (Carolyn) Hardin of Sheridan, Ronnie (Donna) Hardin of Donaldson, Kathy (J.D.) McCann, Angela Mills (Phillip) Cano, Sammy Caldwell of Little Rock, Christy (Chris) Jeans of Bigelow, Robby (Jessica) Caldwell of Prattsville; 21 great grandchildren; 10 great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Virginia was a member of Harmony Missionary Baptist Church in Prattsville. She loved to laugh and was always making quilts and afghans for her family and friends. She was always very involved in running the family businesses, including East Side Grocery, Hope's Texaco, Hope's Construction and Hope's Sawmill. Virginia enjoyed gardening, camping and fishing with her husband and friends.
Funeral services will be 3:00 pm Sunday, September 27, 2015 at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel with her grandson, Bro. Ronnie Hardin officiating. Burial will follow at Philadelphia Cemetery in Prattsville. Visitation will be Saturday from 6-8 pm at the funeral home.
