William Walter Allen of Sheridan, Arkansas was born November 2, 1923 in Sheridan, the son of the late William Thomas and Florence Evelyn Henslee Allen. He was a charter member of First Landmark Missionary Baptist Church, a member of Sheridan Lodge #260, and a 32nd degree Mason. He served on the Board of Directors of Grant County Bank, Horizon Bank and US Bank; was a Veteran of World War II, being the first 18 year old drafted from Grant County, serving with the 300th Engineering Combat Battalion, landing in Normandy on D-Day + 5; lifetime member of the Sheridan Riding Club, serving as President for twenty plus years. He was the Owner and President of W.W. Allen Truck Leasing, Inc. of Sheridan and Leola, Arkansas. He enjoyed family, fishing, dancing, raising cutting horses and a general good time.

Mr. Allen passed away on Monday, December 24, 2007 while visiting friends for the holidays in Covington, Louisiana at the age of 84.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Montez Childers Allen, a brother James Leon Allen, and a sister Ruby Allen Johnson.

Survivors include a son, William Gayle Allen of Leola: Grandchildren; Bridget Michele Allen, William Gray Allen and William Walker Allen and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, December 29, 2007 at 10:00 AM at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel in Sheridan with Bro. Michael Walton officiating. Burial will follow at Lost Creek Cemetery in Sheridan. Visitation: 6-8 PM Friday at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home.
Pallbearers are Terry Martin, Butch Campbell, David McVay, Eddie Suttle, Donnie Evans, Paul Grove, Jr., and Don Sanders.
