Obituary

Walter Larry Keen of Sheridan, Arkansas was born July 12, 1944 at Laurel, Mississippi, the son of the late Silvey and Dorothy Sims Keen.  Walter was a Christian and he knew the Bible cover to cover.  He was a longtime Member of Sheridan Masonic Lodge and he enjoyed hunting and fishing.  They haven't invented any type of machinery that Walter wasn't able to re-build, repair, or fabricate. He was a man of integrity who loved his family above all else.

Mr. Keen died Friday, May 17, 2024 at his home in Sheridan, surrounded by loved ones, at the age of 79.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Sean Keen; brothers, Wesley Keen, Doug Keen; sister, Pat Rhodes.

Survivors include his wife, best friend, and caregiver of 38 years, Mary Jo Derrick Keen of Sheridan; son, David Keen of Sheridan; daughters, Sheila Logan of Little Rock, Angela Newton (Darren) of Leola; step-son, Keith Ray of Alexander; step-daughter, Jennifer Hill (Steven)  of Maumelle; brother, Mike Keen (Kelli) of Wenatchee, Washington; sisters, Geraldine Rhodes of White Hall, Eve Poe of McKinney, Texas; grandchildren, Brooke Logan, Haley Ray, Scotty Shellnut (Madison), Lindsey Parks, Scott Newton, Hunter Watson; great grandchildren, Paislee Keen, Preslee Keen, Levi Camp, Eli Camp, Vivianne Camp, Lawson Wayne Shellnut, Georgia Kate Shellnut, Sawyer James Shellnut, Asher Wayne Watson. He is also survived by numerous other extended family members and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel in Sheridan with Walter's brother-in-law, Bro. Raymond Derrick officiating, assisted by Bro. Steve Cypert.  Visitation is also Tuesday, 10:00-11:00 A.M.
