Virgil "Wayne" Creed of Prattsville, Arkansas was born on June 18, 1935 in Prattsville, Arkansas, the son of the late Lester Creed and Ruby Kelly Creed. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Garry Wayne Creed.

Mr. Creed passed away on Friday, March 8, 2024 at his home at the age of 88.

Wayne was a 1952 graduate of Prattville High School.  After graduation, he served in the US Navy. He was a retired truck driver of 41 years.  After retiring he became the care-taker of Philadelphia Cemetery  for over  18 years. He was called to preach the word of God on May 12, 1968 where he served as fill-in minister for many Grant County  Missionary Baptist Churches. Wayne was a member of Philadelphia Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as  Deacon and  Sunday School Director.   Wayne's hope and prayer was that all of his family be involved in church and serve the Lord.

Wayne loved his town and Grant County community and strived to make it a better place by serving on the Prattsville School Board, Justice of the Peace, Auxiliary Deputy for Grant County Sheriff Office  and Chaplin for Sheridan  Auxiliary Police.  He was an avid outdoorsman who loved all types of hunting, especially turkey season.  He served as president and vice president of Missed It and Rattlesnake Hunting Club.

Wayne is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Laura Jean Creed of Prattsville, sister, Dorthy Wray of Kennewick, Washington, son, Dee(DeEdra) Creed of Prattsville, daughter Ruby Dianne  Quimby of Prattsville, daughter-in-law Nancy Creed of Prattsville : 4 grandchildren, Jessica (Robert) Caldwell of Prattsville, April (Keith) Harkins of Haskell, Brandon Quimby of Prattsville, and Kevin Creed of Gainesville Florida;   8 great grandchildren and  2 great great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, church family, and friends.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 16, 2024 at 10:00 A. M.  at Memorial Gardens in Sheridan Arkansas with Bro. Michael Walton officiating.  Visitation will be Friday, March 15, 2024 at Memorial Gardens from 5:00-7:00 P.M.
