W.E. "Pete" Beck of Prattsville, Arkansas was born April 25, 1934 at Sheridan, the son of the late Willie Franklin and Gladys Dougan Beck. He was a member of Philadelphia Missionary Baptist Church, was a veteran of Korean War, having served in the United States Army and was retired manager of a pulp mill.

Mr. Beck died Saturday, August 13, 2011 at his home in Prattsville at the age of 77. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Charles William Beck.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Delores "Dee" Hicks Beck of Prattsville; son, Steven P. Beck and wife Angela of Huntsville, Alabama; daughter, Tiffin Fitzhugh and husband Michael of Prattsville; sisters, Lyndle Barnes and husband Gordon of Hensley, Vernice Lybrand and husband Lawrence of Sheridan, Marie Litherland of San Antonio, Texas; grandchildren, Steven Michael Beck, Joshua David Beck, Joseph Alexander Beck, Beth Fitzhugh, Clint Fitzhugh, Duke Fitzhugh.

A private family service will be held. Mr. Beck requested no flowers to be sent, but anyone wishing to send a memorial, may do so to the American Cancer Society, Arkansas Chapter, 901 N University Avenue, Little Rock, AR 72207-6354.
