Wendell Jay Lybrand of Grapevine, Arkansas was born April 22, 1949, in Pine Bluff, Arkansas the son of the late VJ and Ellouise Hardwick Lybrand. Wendell was a graduate of Grapevine High School in 1967 and worked for the railroad from 1968 until his retirement in 2004. He was also a master electrician and enjoyed spending countless hours doing electric work on the side always finding a way to keep busy.  On November 8, 1972, he married his wife and best friend Charleen Jones Lybrand and together for over 50 years they built a lasting legacy full of love for their family. Wendell was also a member of the Grapevine Hunting Club and was a true outdoorsman who loved to squirrel hunt, deer hunt, fish, and enjoyed any chance he could to be out in the woods. Above all, Wendell was a family man who loved his wife, his daughters, and especially his grandkids and great grandkids who brought so much joy to his life and whom he was so proud to be their grandpa.

Wendell passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family at the age of 77.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife Charleen Jones Lybrand, and his brother Jeff Lybrand. He is survived by his daughters Jackie (Randy) Masters, Teressa (Raymond) Harrington, step-son Mike (Tanya) Watkins, brothers Eddie (Jane) Lybrand, Mike Lybrand, Pete Lybrand, grandchildren Cody (Meg) Harrington, Matt (Ashley) Harrington, Tyler (Jolee) Jennings, Joshua (Katie) Masters, Josh Watkins, great grandchildren Hadley Harrington, Huxton Jennings, Ketch Jennings, Lakeland Masters, Oakley Masters, also with several nieces, nephews, and friends.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, October 15, 2026, at Grapevine Cemetery with Bro. Steve Cypert and Bro. Guy Looper officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday October 14, 2026, at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home in Sheridan. Pallbearers are Ben Jones, Jeff Jones, Michael Lybrand, Nick Lybrand, Dustin Williams, Phillip Ashcraft. Honorary Pallbearers are Shelby Taylor, Tim Williamson, Herbie Waymack, Dink Lybrand, David Wilson.
