Obituary

On Sunday February 21, 2021 Wendy Diane McKinzie loving mother, devoted sister, caring daughter and forever friend went to be with her Lord and Savior at the age of 46.

Wendy was born Sept 18, 1974 in Malvern, Arkansas. She graduated from Sheridan High school in 1992 and from there went straight to work, Making tons of memories and friends along the way.

Her most proud moment was the birth of her daughter Kayla Jean McKinzie. Kayla gave her the precious gift of motherhood, changed her life and became her world.

Wendy loved loving people, it was her gift. She found joy in giving to others whether they were in need or she just wanted to. She was all about family making sure they were taking care of, appointments were made and schedules kept. Friends were considered family and treated as such. Her favorite past times were QVC shopping with mom and dad, road tripping with Ann and having Kayla teach her tricks about social media.

She loved any excuses to gather many times it was a BBQ on Watson Hill often ending with four wheelers and mud.  She was full of surprises and laughs from glow in the dark underwear, drag racing her dodge or rapping to Buttermilk biscuits to name a few of the precious memories she left with us.

She was a member of Bethany #1 Missionary Baptist Church of Grapevine, Arkansas. She was involved with the ladies group and looked forward to their gatherings.

Wendy was preceded in death by her grandparents Falcon and Venita Lightsey, Melvin and Mather Watson, Father Thomas Ray Lacy and Uncle Albert Watson. She is survived by her daughter Kayla Jean McKenzie, ex-husband and friend Eric McKenzie, parents Willis and Teresa Watson of Grapevine, siblings Cortney and Fever McElyea of Carlisle, Jerry and Nita Mullins of Sheridan, nieces, nephews and many other family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel in Sheridan, with Bro. Jon Cox officiating. Burial will be in Davis Cemetery, in the Lazy Bend community, near Grapevine. Visitation is also Wednesday, from 10:00 A.M. until service time.
