Obituary

William Homer Ashcraft was born June 13, 1932 in his family home to Henry Homer Ashcraft and Dollie Missouri Carter Ashcraft. William left his earthly home on August 2, 2021 at the age of 89 surrounded by his family.

William was a graduate of Sheridan High School class of 1950. He then went on to attend Missionary Baptist Seminary. William became an ordained minister in April of 1953. He pastored 8 different local churches during his time in the ministry. One of Williams proudest moments was being led to the Lord by his mother at 9 years old in the same home he was born in. William became a charter member of First Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in May of 1951. He had a love for the Lord and the word of God that was like no other. In a note to his family describing his salvation experience William wrote, "My Redeemer lives and one day I shall see Him face to face." What peace we have knowing that William is in the arms of his Redeemer.

William had many jobs over his 89 years of life but he always had the best stories to tell of his 33.5 years as an employee of the United Postal Service. He could tell you where every member of this community lived or worked during his time delivering.

In Williams free time he enjoyed wood working, deer hunting, fishing and camping. After retirement William found a new joy in discovering the beauty of the United States National Parks visiting; Yellowstone, Mount Rushmore, the Redwoods of California, Niagara Falls and the Grand Canyon.

While William had the great privilege of experiencing so much love, he also knew great loss. William married Dean Nichols in 1951. They had one child Richard Alan Ashcraft and one grandchild Joseph William Ashcraft. After 42 years of marriage Dean passed away from cancer. 6 years latter their son Ricky passed away from Multiple Sclerosis. William later married Delma Marie McClung Dean. After 13 years of marriage Delma passed away from cancer. William was caregiver to both of his wives during their illnesses. He was the definition of a Godly spouse.

William married Marjorie Ann Wilson Lites in 2007. This marriage brought him a large family to become a part of. 2 sons, 2 daughter-n-laws, 10 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren.
