William Calvin "Cal" Emberton, Sr. of Sheridan, Arkansas was born July 21, 1928 at Limestone County, Alabama, the son of the late Walter James and Lura Mae Smith Emberton. He was a member of Lost Creek Missionary Baptist Church and had been a factory and sawmill worker. He was especially proud to have served under Sheriff Lewis Shirron as a Sheriff's Deputy in Grant County for 5 years. Cal was a hunter and fisherman at heart, and enjoyed spending time outdoors.
Mr. Emberton died Saturday, May 18, 2013 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff at the age of 84. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Paul Emberton, Audry Emberton, Margaret Rushing, Glen Emberton and Nadine Vanhoozer.
Survivors include his wife, Reba McCowan Emberton of Sheridan; Son, Billy Emberton and wife Sheila of Sheridan; Daughters, Sharon Grimes and husband Larry of Sherwood, Charlotte King and husband Rethel of Harrison; Sisters, Elizabeth Brown of Decatur, Alabama, Oleta Allen, Kansas City, Kansas; 11 Grandchildren, 30 Great Grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel in Sheridan. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Sheridan. Visitation will be Monday, 6:00-8:00 P.M.
Pallbearers: Kevin Nail, Rob McBee, Jim Reed, David Emberton, Jason Howard, Evan Billings and Billy Emberton. Honorary pallbearers are the men of Lost Creek Missionary Baptist Church.
