Wilma Smith Ashcraft of Monticello, Arkansas was born August 17, 1931 in Grapevine, Arkansas the daughter of the late Lonnie and Ella Smith. She passed away Thursday, August 11, 2022 at The Woods Nursing Home in Monticello at the age of 90.
She retired from the Pine Bluff Arsenal in 1993 where she worked on the mask assembly line.
She was a faithful devout Christian that had a kind word and smile for everyone she met. She was teaching us her recipes on her death bed. She and Coy raised their blended family of 9 kids in Sheridan and attended Hope Pentecostal Church. In 1993 she moved to White Hall, where she attended White Hall Assembly of God Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by the fathers of her children: James Baker and Coy Harper, sons, Donnie Harper, Gary Harper; daughter, LaRue Howard; brothers, Harvey
Othel, Basil, Dewitt, and Luther Smith and a sister Geneva Green
Survivors: husband, Charles Ashcraft of Monticello; sons, Jim (Edna) Baker, Chester (Sheree) Harper, Vernon (Shirley) Harper, David (Mary) Harper, Jerrell (Alberta) Harper of Sheridan; daughters, Brenda (Gary) Newton, Betty Perez, Patsy Varner; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral service will be 10:00 AM Monday, August 15, 2022 at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Jim Baker and Rev. Chester Harper officiating. Burial will follow at Lost Creek Cemetery in Sheridan. Visitation will be Sunday at the funeral home from 4:00-6:00 PM.
