Yancee Brent Shepherd of Gresham, Oregon was born February 22, 1971 in Little Rock, Arkansas the son of Luvonia (Lu) Childers Shepherd and the late Johnny Theo Shepherd.
Yancee died September 12, 2021 in Gresham, Oregon at the age of 50.
Survivors: wife Danie Epperson Shepherd; daughter Taylor (Connor) Nemmert of Sandy, Oregon; grandson Carson Nemmert; mother Luvonia Childers Shepherd of Sheridan, AR; sister Joni Shepherd(Larry) Wagner of Alexander, AR; niece Britney Dienstag of Sheridan, AR; great niece Grasyn Dienstag and many friends.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his uncles Robert Shepherd and Jack McCool and maternal grandparents Robert and Kathryn Horton Childers also paternal grandparents Ersel and Pauline Hamner Shepherd and an infant sister Andrea Lane Shepherd.
Yancee loved his family and enjoyed doing any kind of activity they could do together in the "Great Outdoors" like hiking, camping, kayaking, snow shoeing, dirt bikes and fishing. He was the best "Papa" to his grandson Carson, he especially enjoyed taking him on field trips and attending his sporting events and practicing with him. He was always up for a new adventure.
He had a kind heart and was always trying to help other people and rescue wildlife and animals. He loved their four rescued dogs and cat.
Yancee graduated from Sheridan High School in 1989 and attended Pulaski Tech before joining the US Coast Guard where he served aboard the USCGC Citrus as part of a Search & Rescue Team in the Pacific Ocean. While serving in the Coast Guard he fell in love with Oregon and when his 4 year tour was up he decided to stay. He worked for Fed Ex for several years as a long haul driver. He then was selected for a job with the US Fish & Wildlife Service in Klamath Falls, OR. He finally got his dream job working for the US Forestry Service in the Deshutes National Forest in Bend, OR. where he also worked with a crew that fought big fires all over the western half of the United States. Because of an injury, he received medical disability and moved back to Gresham, OR.
There will be no service. Yancee wished to be cremated, his ashes will be scattered in special places in Oregon and Arkansas by his family. Memorials may be made to PTSD Foundation of America.
