IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Zelma Crutchfield
Pumphrey Highsmith
December 17, 1922 – January 11, 2020
Zelma Irene Crutchfield Pumphrey Highsmith of Sheridan, Arkansas, was born December 17, 1922 at Sheridan, the daughter of the late Allison Crutchfield and May Kennedy Crutchfield. She was a member of Philadelphia Missionary Baptist Church in Prattsville, and was a homemaker. Her great granddaughter Erin described her well: "I hope Heaven is full of leaves that need raking, rose bushes that need to be planted, peas that need to be shelled, and pieces of fabric that need to be quilted. I can only imagine the look on your face when you saw Jesus and He welcomed you to your eternal home. For 97 years, you followed the plan God made out for you and lived your life for Him. I have no doubt that you got a 'job well done' when you entered those gates".
Mrs. Highsmith died Saturday, January 11, 2020 at St. Vincent Medical Center in Little Rock, at the age of 97. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Paulie D. Pumphrey; husbands, Sherrill Pumphrey, Everett Highsmith; brother, James Crutchfield; sisters, Zula Bird, Dorothy Atchley; great grandson, Nicholas Ard
Survivors include her son and daughter–in-law, Larry and Janet Pumphrey; daughters, Linda Williams, Kay Cissell; daughter-in-law, Joyce Pumphrey, all of Sheridan; brother, Jerry Crutchfield of Prattsville; sisters, Helen Lipscomb of Seminole, Florida, Betty Tapley of Greenbrier; grandchildren, Kelly (Neal) Hollinger, Lisa (Heath) Johnson, Everette Williams, Brenda (Robert) Bynum, William (Susan) Pumphrey, Nancy (David) Lewis, Paul (Angie) Pumphrey; 13 great grandchildren. She is also survived by host of other nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel in Sheridan, with Bro. Neal Hollinger and Bro. Jerry Wallace officiating. Burial will be in Philadelphia Cemetery at Prattsville. Visitation is also Wednesday, from 12:30 P.M. until service time.
